Having welcomed a staggering 24 million visitors during Expo 2020 Dubai, Expo City Dubai is now preparing to host its most significant event since the World Expo two years ago. The United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC), also known as COP28 UAE, is set to attract 70,000 accredited visitors and an estimated 50,000 daily visitors, marking a momentous gathering dedicated to addressing climate change.
Expo City Dubai organizers have announced an exciting opportunity for the UAE public to participate in the upcoming event. Running from November 30 to December 12, alongside COP28, a range of activations and exhibitions will take place in the special Green Zone, allowing the public to engage with the event and its important initiatives.

While the Blue Zone of COP28 is exclusively reserved for accredited UNFCCC delegates, the Green Zone offers an opportunity for the public to participate. Interested individuals can apply for a day pass through the website cop28.com to gain access to the Green Zone during the conference.
Sustainability showcase
COP28’s Green Zone is designed for individuals interested in sustainability-focused businesses and activities related to climate change. With a diverse program, it will feature workshops, debates, a themed musical, and a start-up hub, catering to a wide range of interests within the realm of climate action.
The Green Zone at COP28 will feature a variety of events specifically tailored for the UAE and the broader business community. Notably, the Expo City Dubai Pavilion will be launched exclusively for COP28, providing a unique platform to showcase the UAE’s initiatives and contributions to addressing climate change.
Expo City Pavilion
During COP28, the Expo City Pavilion will be the venue for the “Expo Live Climate Start-ups in Action” series, taking place on December 4-6 and 8-10. This series will showcase 19 start-ups and entrepreneurs from various parts of the world, including three from the MENA region, who have demonstrated exceptional creativity and innovation in addressing climate change. The series will provide a platform for these individuals to share their groundbreaking ideas and initiatives with attendees.
