On the sidelines of the 19th G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met with His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of France. Their meeting focused on bilateral relations, exploring ways to bolster cooperation and expand strategic partnerships between the UAE and France.

Both leaders underscored the significance of building upon the strong historical ties and collaboration between their countries and peoples, emphasizing their shared commitment to advancing strategic partnerships. The discussions also highlighted the necessity of enhancing coordination and joint efforts between the UAE and France to support initiatives aimed at achieving the objectives of the 19th G20 summit.

Additionally, Sheikh Khaled met with His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, during the G20 summit. 

The discussions focused on the robust relationship between the UAE and Egypt, exploring avenues to further enhance cooperation and expand strategic partnerships between the two nations. They addressed various topics on the agenda of the 19th G20 summit, emphasizing the importance of coordination among all relevant stakeholders to achieve the summit’s goals.

Sheikh Khaled highlighted the strength of the strategic ties between the UAE and Egypt, reaffirming the UAE leadership’s commitment to deepening cooperation and coordination with Egypt. At the end of their meeting, both leaders reiterated the necessity of ongoing collaboration to advance mutual interests.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi engaged in discussions with His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, regarding the enhancement of bilateral relations during the 19th G20 summit. 

Their meeting centered on identifying ways to bolster cooperation between the UAE and South Africa. It also underscored the importance of enhancing coordination and collaborative efforts to support initiatives aligned with the objectives of the 19th G20 summit.

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the UAE’s dedication to further strengthening its longstanding relationship with South Africa, aiming to elevate cooperation to new heights that benefit their mutual interests.

Meeting with Brazil’s President 

Yesterday, during the inaugural day of the G20 summit, Sheikh Khaled engaged in official discussions with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. They explored ways to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Brazil, identifying opportunities to further develop bilateral relations for the benefit of both nations.

On the sidelines of their meeting, key partnerships across various sectors were signed, marking significant progress. Sheikh Khaled’s visit to Brazil included leading the UAE delegation at the G20 summit. 

The two leaders reviewed the development of bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as economy, investment, renewable energy, and sustainability, while also celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their countries. Their discussions underscored the remarkable growth achieved, supported by strong bilateral ties and a shared commitment to enhancing them.

They also explored programs and initiatives aimed at expanding cooperation to promote sustainable development in both nations. Furthermore, Sheikh Khaled and President Lula exchanged perspectives on various mutual interests, emphasizing the importance of strengthening their strategic partnership to benefit their people and foster regional and global stability.

Sheikh Khaled reiterated the UAE’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Brazil at all levels, supporting joint sustainable development, and fortifying the close ties between the two nations for the prosperity of their citizens.

Inking  investment partnership

Sheikh Khaled and the President of Brazil witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a collaborative framework to enhance UAE investments in key sectors within Brazil. The agreement was signed by Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, and Rui Costa, Chief of Staff to the President of Brazil, during their meeting.

In terms of bilateral relations, the UAE stands as one of Brazil’s primary economic partners in the Middle East, with trade between the two nations amounting to AED 13.28 billion in the first eight months of this year. Brazil is currently the UAE’s largest trading partner in Latin America and the second largest in the Americas, following the United States.

UAE investments in Brazil are estimated at $5 billion, with significant contributions from major Emirati firms such as Mubadala, DP World, Emirates Airlines, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Yahsat, and others.
