Gulf carriers have made a strong showing in the Airline Ratings‘ Global Rankings, with Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways among the top 20 airlines in the world.
Etihad Airways has once again been crowned “Environmental Airline of the Year,” according to the latest Airline Ratings awards. This is the second year in a row that the UAE’s national carrier has won the title.
In addition to this environmental accolade, Etihad also claimed the third spot in Airline Ratings’ “Top 10 Airlines” award, which considers in-air comfort, innovation, value, and safety across all travel classes.

The awards, which also include the “Airline Excellence Awards” and the “Top 25 Airlines in the World for 2023,” were announced by AirlineRatings. The global ranking of airlines was based on a consistent level of service, innovation, and staff engagement, as well as criteria such as innovation, route networks, and safety score.
Other Gulf carriers also made the list, with Qatar Airways taking second place in the world’s Top 25 Airlines for 2023 and Emirates Airlines ranking 10th.
Air New Zealand was ranked number one, thanks to its innovative beds for economy class passengers and its excellent passenger service, as well as its quick recovery from pandemic-related disruptions.
