International engagement and diplomacy
On the global stage, the Kingdom has strengthened its position by addressing numerous critical issues. On Jumada Al-Awwal 9, 1446 AH, Riyadh hosted the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit, uniting leaders from Arab and Islamic nations to reaffirm their commitment to the Palestinian cause and support for the Palestinian people’s rights.
Additionally, the Saudi-US Summit took place in Riyadh on Dhu al-Qi’dah 15, 1446 AH. This pivotal meeting between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US President Donald J. Trump resulted in the signing of the Strategic Economic Partnership Document. This was followed by the GCC-USA Summit, further solidifying regional and international relations.
From Riyadh, President Trump announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria, a result of the Crown Prince’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and promote stability in the region. Invited by the Crown Prince, a meeting was also held with President Trump, Turkey’s President ErdoÄźan (via teleconference), and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to discuss the future of Syria.
Saudi Arabia further demonstrated its commitment to global security and dialogue by hosting significant talks between the Russian Federation and the United States, guided by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Environmental leadership and sustainable development
In its role as a steward of the environment, the Kingdom organized the seventh annual summit of the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds (OPSWF) Group, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron. Saudi Arabia also hosted the 16th session of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16), reaffirming its dedication to tackling global environmental challenges. Moreover, these initiatives were complemented by the Saudi Green Initiative Forum and the One Water Summit, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank.

Additionally, to enhance transportation for residents and visitors, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated the Riyadh Metro Project on Jumada Al-Awwal 25, 1446 AH. This project is now a cornerstone of Riyadh’s public transportation network. Additionally, the Sports Boulevard project, announced by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, opened its first phase, featuring five destinations dedicated to health and well-being.
The momentum behind Vision 2030 continues with the launch and advancement of transformative projects such as NEOM, The Red Sea, Qiddiya, and Diriyah. Aligned with Vision 2030, the Cabinet approved the Investment Law, a key component of the National Investment Strategy. These efforts have led to a surge in regional headquarters in the Kingdom, approaching 600, with total investments reaching SAR1.2 trillion, accounting for 30% of the Saudi economy.
The Kingdom is committed to enhancing its legislative framework to support business practices in line with global advancements. Recent reforms include new Commercial Register and Trade Name Laws. In a strategic move to balance the real estate sector, the Crown Prince directed the lifting of the suspension on lands north of Riyadh, alongside measures to regulate market growth and amend the White Land Tax Law.
In a historic gesture, King Salman approved the official symbol of the Saudi riyal, reinforcing the Kingdom’s financial identity.
Humanitarian outreach and innovation
Reflecting its humanitarian spirit, Saudi Arabia continues its commitment to aid communities in need. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched extensive relief operations, delivering essential supplies to those affected by crises, particularly in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.
In light of the challenges facing Iran, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques directed the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to ensure comprehensive services for Iranian pilgrims until safe conditions allow their return.

With significant advancements in sports, bolstered by visionary leadership and aligned with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia achieved a monumental victory by winning the bid to host the FIFA World Cup™ 2034. This historic event will mark the first time the tournament is hosted solely by one nation, featuring 48 teams across five cities. Following this announcement, HRH the Crown Prince established the World Cup 2034 Hosting Higher Authority, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to delivering an exceptional edition of this prestigious football event.
As 2025 unfolds, Saudi Arabia is intensifying efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil, a cornerstone of Vision 2030.
