Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim, the minister of economy and planning, officially launched the ‘Data Saudi’ platform during LEAP 2024, the technology event held at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center. The launch of this platform marks a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s journey towards greater transparency and accessibility of economic and social data.
Platform’s evolution
Initially introduced on a trial basis in September 2023, the ‘Data Saudi’ platform has undergone continuous enhancements and updates under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Planning. The platform serves as the primary reference for economic and social data in the Kingdom. Moreover, it aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The ‘Data Saudi’ platform offers users access to a wide array of key indicators. Moreover, it presents the information in a visually engaging and interactive format. Users can explore various economic and social metrics, including international trade balance, workers’ remittances, population density, and demographic trends. Through its user-friendly interface, the platform enables stakeholders to gain comprehensive insights into the Saudi economy and society.
Recognition and accreditation
In addition to launching the ‘Data Saudi’ platform, the ministry also received recognition from the Digital Government Authority for obtaining the National Enterprise Architecture Accreditation Certificate. This accolade underscores the ministry’s commitment to advancing digital transformation initiatives within the government sector.
The authority grants this certificate to government entities that demonstrate excellence in implementing the national model for enterprise architecture maturity standards. These standards play a vital role in enhancing maturity levels and expediting digital transformation within the government sector.
Data Saudi’s significance
The launch of the ‘Data Saudi’ platform underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering transparency and accountability in data management practices. By centralizing economic and social data within a unified platform, policymakers, researchers, and the public alike can access timely and reliable information. This allows them to inform decision-making processes and drive socioeconomic development.
