The Digital Government Authority has released the 2025 Emerging Technologies Adoption Readiness Index during the Digital Saudi Exhibition at the LEAP 2025 conference, showcasing remarkable advancements in the adoption of emerging technologies by government entities. The readiness rate reached 74.69 percent, placing Saudi Arabia in a “proficient” category, a notable improvement from 70.70 percent in 2024 and 60.35 percent in 2023.
Governor and board member of the Digital Government Authority, Eng. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan, commended the initiatives of government entities in utilizing emerging technologies. He emphasized that the 2025 Emerging Technologies Adoption Readiness Index centered on artificial intelligence (AI) as the primary technology for the year, underscoring its role in cost reduction, task acceleration, and productivity enhancement. He highlighted the necessity for ongoing collaboration to enhance the digital experience, improve quality of life, and invest in emerging technologies to create sustainable impacts and elevate user experiences.
Progress across capabilities in the index
According to the report, 49 government entities participated in the third round of the 2025 index, demonstrating clear advancement across all four capabilities measured: research, communication, proof, and integration. Government entities achieved a score of 73.47 percent in research capability, indicating readiness to analyze priorities, uncover the added value of emerging technologies, and manage risks adeptly. The communication capability reached 74.63 percent, showcasing strong collaboration between government entities and technology experts, as well as organizing national events to highlight innovations. Proof capability attained 75.99 percent, reflecting the development of prototypes for emerging technologies and their broader application to enhance efficiency and innovation. Integration capability secured a score of 74.69 percent, affirming the government’s commitment to aligning emerging technologies with its strategic goals.
Outstanding projects showcasing technological impact
The report also spotlighted several remarkable government projects, including the implementation of generative AI in the “Fasah Content Clearance System” for books, which led to a cost reduction of 95 percent, and the use of AI in the “Smart Neighborhood Monitoring” project that improved the urban landscape by eliminating 92 percent of construction waste. Additional projects encompassed “Truck Crossing Tracking” utilizing the Internet of Things, geological surveying through drones, and robotic surgery technologies, all contributing to high success rates in surgical operations.

This achievement underscores SFDA’s dedication to utilizing modern technologies and digital innovation within its core responsibilities, which include food and drug safety, medical devices and supplies, and cosmetics. In alignment with its fourth strategic plan, SFDA prioritizes the increased application of advanced digital technologies and supports research and innovation to bolster health protection and improve product quality. This aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030, which promotes digital transformation and innovation throughout the government sector.
