Ben Cousens, chief strategy officer at ZEBEDEE, noted in a statement, “With this partnership, we’re supporting a new type of business model and economic activity, not just for the payments space, but in general.”

ZEBEDEE, a gaming company focused on Bitcoin that was established in October 2019, releases games through its mobile app. Bitcoin Chess and Bitcoin Scratch, a digital scratch-card game with mobile game studio Viker, are two new play-to-earn games that ZEBEDEE recently launched.

Play-to-earn games allow players to play online and earn rewards that have real-world value. With a direct connection between podcasters and their audience and the ability for listeners to earn Bitcoin for each minute they tune in, Listen-to-earn seeks to accomplish a similar goal for podcasters.

In June 2022, Fountain began offering its listen-to-earn program. The platform enables podcasters and listeners to be compensated for their contributions. Users of Fountain will be paid for the first hour they spend each day listening to podcasts.

The platform uses RSS feeds to make podcasts from other platforms accessible to its listeners in an effort to increase listenership. Users can earn small sums of Bitcoin, known as sats or satoshis, after the person who invented Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, by using the Fountain app to listen to their preferred podcast.

When a user is ready to withdraw money, they connect to the ZEBEDEE app.
