The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) reaffirmed its dedication to promoting comprehensive and sustainable development during its active participation in the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Led by director general Fahad bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, the QFFD delegation emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations through innovative financing, strengthening local systems, and ensuring long-term development impact.

The HLPF serves as the UN’s central platform for reviewing progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It brings together global leaders, development institutions, and civil society to accelerate action toward sustainable development.

During a key session titled “Accessing the Means of Implementation: Mobilizing Finance, Science, Technology, and Innovation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,” Al-Sulaiti underscored the urgent need to expand access to inclusive and innovative financial tools. He also highlighted the critical role of local capacity building in achieving the SDGs and enhancing communities’ resilience.

QFFD also co-organized a major side event, “On the Road to Doha: From the 2025 High-Level Political Forum to the Second World Summit for Social Development,” in collaboration with global partners.

The event focused on the essential role of social development in achieving broader sustainable development outcomes. Al-Sulaiti officially opened the session alongside senior representatives from the United Nations, member states, and prominent development organizations.

The discussions contributed to shaping a unified vision for the Second World Summit for Social Development, which will be hosted by the State of Qatar from November 4-6, 2025.
