Samsung and Google are collaborating to enhance the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of Samsung’s future smartphone models. Cholmin Guo, vice president of Samsung’s semiconductor industry, stated that the company has initiated efforts to incorporate the second generation of Google’s Gemini Nano AI model into the upcoming Galaxy S25 series smartphones.
According to reports from local Korean media, Samsung is scheduled to hold a meeting with Google in the following week to discuss this collaboration.
Currently, Samsung utilizes Google’s Gemini Nano AI model to power AI features in the Galaxy S24 phones, as well as in high-end devices launched in 2023 with the One UI 6.1 update. Notably, this AI model operates directly on the devices without relying on external servers.
While Google has yet to make an official announcement regarding the second generation of the Gemini Nano model, Samsung’s statement confirms that Google is actively working on or has already developed the next iteration of the Gemini models. This collaboration aims to provide improved AI performance and capabilities for Samsung’s forthcoming smartphones.
Launching advanced AI technologies in Bangkok
Samsung Electronics is currently hosting a two-day tech seminar in Bangkok to showcase its latest advancements in AI for TV. The event allows attendees from Southeast Asia to experience the company’s newest offerings, including the 2024 Neo QLED 8K and the latest Samsung OLED models featuring refined technology.

The main highlight of the seminar revolves around the introduction of AI-based features aimed at enhancing the viewing experience. Demonstrations include techniques for upscaling image quality, which can transform lower resolution content into stunning 8K visuals through the utilization of the new ‘NQ8 AI 3rd Generation’ processor. This processor boasts an unprecedented increase in neural network capacity and a neural processing unit (NPU) that is twice as fast as previous models.
