Saudi Arabia announced the discovery of new oil and natural gas fields in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter. According to the Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Aramco has made seven significant discoveries:
Unconventional oil fields discovered in the Eastern Province
In the Eastern Province, two unconventional oil fields were found – Al-Ladam and Al-Farouq. From the Al-Ladam-2 well, very light Arabian oil was extracted at a rate of 5,100 barrels per day, along with 4.9 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day. The Al-Farouq-4 well also yielded very light Arabian oil at a rate of 4,557 barrels per day, accompanied by 3.79 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
New oil reservoir discovered in the Mazaleej field
Additionally, the Unayza B/C reservoir was discovered in the Mazaleej field in the Eastern Province. From the Mazaleej-62 well, Arab light oil flowed at 1,780 barrels per day, with 0.7 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
Natural gas discoveries in the Empty Quarter
In the Empty Quarter, two new natural gas fields were found – Al-Jahaq and Al-Katuf. The Al-Jahaq-1 well tapped into the Al-Arab-C reservoir, yielding 5.3 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, as well as 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day from the same reservoir. Furthermore, the Al-Katuf-1 well flowed at 7.6 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, accompanied by 40 barrels per day of condensate.

Additional discovery in the Asikra field
The Hanifa reservoir was also discovered in the Asikra field in the Empty Quarter. From the Asikra-6 well, natural gas flowed at 4.9 million standard cubic feet per day, and an additional 0.6 million standard cubic feet per day from the Al-Fadhili reservoir, along with 100 barrels per day of condensate.
Moreover, the Minister praised these major discoveries and thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for these achievements, wishing for continued security, safety, and prosperity for the Kingdom and its people.
