President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, signed the “One-Stop Security” agreement in London with the Government of the United Kingdom, represented by Rannia Leontaridi, the Director General for Aviation, Maritime and Security Group in the Department for Transport (DfT).

This agreement, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, permits the security screening procedures conducted at U.K. airports to be acknowledged for passengers traveling to airports in Saudi Arabia and continuing on to various destinations worldwide. The deal signifies a strategic advancement that fortifies the Kingdom’s status as a global aviation hub. It enhances the passenger experience by decreasing transit times and removing redundant procedures, all while upholding the highest standards of security and safety. Additionally, it aligns with the objectives of the National Aviation Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030 to strengthen air connectivity and facilitate international travel.

Streamlined screening process

Under the terms of the agreement, passenger and baggage screening performed at U.K. airports will be accepted upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, negating the necessity for re-screening or baggage unloading. This streamlining of connecting flight procedures reduces passenger wait times, enhances traveler satisfaction and airport operational efficiency, and optimizes airline scheduling by minimizing ground time.

Furthermore, the agreement boosts security and technical cooperation through the sharing of best practices and data concerning risk management and threat assessment. This initiative forms part of GACA’s broader efforts to elevate the passenger experience and transform Saudi airports into globally competitive hubs by embracing advanced technologies and digital solutions. It reflects the commitment of both countries to maintain the highest standards of aviation security and safety while fostering international travel and trade.
