The World Bank recently disclosed the findings of its evaluation of the maturity and performance of statistical systems, encompassing 186 countries. The assessment focused on five key dimensions, comprising over 52 indices, which encompassed data sources, statistical products and services, and infrastructure.

In the dimension of data use, the kingdom achieved a perfect score of 100 percent. Overall, it received a rating of 80.8 percent, a significant increase from its previous score of 63.4 percent in 2019. This progress rate of 17.4 percent was the highest among the G20 countries.

Leadership support driving strategic transformations

Dr. Fahad Aldossari, president of GASTAT, attributed this key achievement to the unwavering support of the wise leadership, which has played a crucial role in driving strategic transformations in statistical production and technical infrastructure. He highlighted that this support has greatly enhanced GASTAT’s role in the statistical landscape, surpassing numerous official statistical agencies worldwide.

Furthermore, this accomplishment has contributed to the development and calculation of high-quality indices and statistical data that have garnered praise from international organizations specializing in the statistical domain.

Dr. Aldossari added that this achievement reflects the leadership’s trust in GASTAT’s national role in providing statistical data, constructing and measuring national statistical indices that bolster sustainable development plans, advance the Saudi economy, and enhance the quality of life in the Kingdom.
