Saudi Arabia will host the 25th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2025 from May 4 to 12 in Dhahran, featuring the participation of 240 students from 30 Asian countries. This international scientific event marks the first time the Kingdom has hosted the APhO and is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The event will take place at KFUPM, proudly supported by the exclusive sponsorship of Saudi Aramco, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Premier international science competition
The APhO is further recognized as one of the most prominent annual international science competitions for talented high school students specializing in physics. It unites participants from various Asian countries that have achieved notable success in the International Physics Olympiad.
Saudi Arabia’s achievements in science competitions
The Kingdom first participated in the APhO in 2012, and since then, it has earned 16 international awards in this esteemed competition. Moreover, these accolades are part of a broader achievement, with Saudi students amassing a remarkable total of 854 medals and honors in global and regional Olympiads and international scientific competitions.
