Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports surge 14.3 percent to $7 billion in February 2025

China emerged as the primary destination for the Kingdom’s exports, accounting for 16.2 percent of total exports in February 2025.

Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports, including re-exports, recorded a notable increase of 14.3 percent in February 2025, reaching SAR26.11 billion ($7 billion) compared to February 2024, according to data released today by the General Authority for Statistics.

National non-oil exports (excluding re-exports) saw a rise of 0.7 percent, totaling SAR16.07 billion. Additionally, the value of re-exported goods experienced a remarkable surge of 45.9 percent during the same period, reaching SAR10.05 billion.

Merchandise exports in February 2025 decreased by 2.6 percent to SAR93.74 billion compared to February 2024, primarily due to a decline in petroleum exports, which fell by 7.9 percent to SAR67.6 billion.

The proportion of petroleum exports out of total exports decreased significantly from 76.3 percent in February 2024 to 72.1 percent in February 2025.

Imports and trade surplus

Regarding imports, they decreased by 5.6 percent in February 2025, amounting to SAR63.17 billion. Meanwhile, the surplus in the merchandise trade balance rose by 4 percent to SAR30.57 billion compared to February 2024. In February 2025, the ratio of non-oil exports, including re-exports, to imports increased to 41.3 percent, up from 34.1 percent in February 2024. This improvement is attributed to a 14.3 percent increase in non-oil exports and a 5.6 percent decrease in imports during the same timeframe.

Key non-oil export commodities

Among the key non-oil export commodities, “chemical industry products” stand out, constituting 20.3 percent of total non-oil exports, despite a decrease of 3.6 percent from February 2024. Following closely are “plastics, rubber, and their products,” which represent 20.0 percent of total non-oil exports and saw a decline of 1.7 percent from February 2024.

Imported goods

On the other hand, the most significant imported goods included “machinery, appliances, electrical equipment, and their parts,” which constitute 23.5 percent of total imports, although this category saw a decrease of 0.7 percent from February 2024. Transportation equipment and its parts accounted for 15.4 percent of total imports and experienced a substantial increase of 24.3 percent from February 2024.

Main destinations of exports

China emerged as the primary destination for the Kingdom’s exports, accounting for 16.2 percent of total exports in February 2025. This was followed by South Korea at 10.1 percent and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at 9.8 percent. India, Japan, Egypt, Poland, the United States (U.S.), Taiwan, and the Kingdom of Bahrain were among the ten most important countries receiving exports, with the Kingdom’s total exports to these ten nations amounting to 72.0 percent of total exports.

Imports from main countries

China also ranks first in terms of the Kingdom’s imports, making up 24.1 percent of total imports in February 2025. The U.S. followed with 7.3 percent, and India accounted for 6.7 percent of total imports. Furthermore, the UAE, Egypt, Germany, Japan, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom (U.K.) were among the top ten countries from which imports were sourced, with the total value of imports from these nations constituting 64.0 percent of the Kingdom’s total imports.
