Saudi Arabia has secured the top position among G20 nations, with 92.6 percent of its population feeling safe walking alone at night in their neighborhoods, according to new findings.
Data from the Global SDG Indicators Database and the 2023 Safety Index Publication released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) highlighted the vital role of various government sectors in promoting a sense of safety for individuals throughout all regions and governorates of the Kingdom, as noted by GASTAT. This is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security, stability, and overall quality of life in Saudi Arabia across multiple areas, including economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technological, and cybersecurity safety. Additionally, these initiatives aim to elevate service quality in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
Notably, Saudi Arabia also led the G20 countries in the 2020 Sustainable Development Report for achieving the highest Safety Index.
The Safety Index Publication serves as a key outcome of the 2023 Household Socio-Economic Survey, which encompasses various indicators related to economic, social, and household factors in the Kingdom. It specifically measures the percentage of residents who feel safe walking alone in their residential areas.
