The Saudi Tourism Authority, in collaboration with Jazeera Airways, has announced the launch of direct flights between Kuwait and the Aseer Region, beginning July 15 and running through the end of September. These flights will operate three times per week. This initiative reflects the strategic partnership between the authority and Jazeera Airways, enhancing the airline’s presence in the Saudi market while supporting the authority’s efforts to promote regional summer destinations, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The launch aligns perfectly with this year’s Aseer Season, which features a variety of musical, artistic, and cultural events, along with outdoor activities and adventure trails set against the backdrop of the region’s majestic mountains and pleasant weather. Visitors will also experience the charm of ancient stone houses, rich in history, adding an authentic cultural dimension to their journey.Â
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have implemented several similar decisions and initiatives in recent years to enhance tourism connectivity and cooperation, especially visible in the launch of direct flights and broader tourism agreements.

Direct flight routes for tourism promotion
The Saudi Tourism Authority, in collaboration with Jazeera Airways, has announced the launch of direct flights between Kuwait and the Aseer Region for the summer season, operating three times a week. This initiative is strategically timed to align with major tourism campaigns like Aseer Season, which showcases a variety of cultural, musical, and adventure events. The goal is to enhance Jazeera Airways’ presence in the Saudi market while promoting regional destinations.
This is not the first initiative of its kind; Jazeera Airways has previously expanded its network to include direct flights from Kuwait to other Saudi cities such as Abha and Hail, also operating three flights per week. These routes are specifically designed to open up Saudi Arabia’s less-explored, culturally rich regions to Kuwaiti and regional travelers, thereby supporting mutual tourism objectives.
Strategic tourism cooperation agreements
In November 2022, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing tourism cooperation between the two nations. This agreement encompasses a variety of collaborative efforts, such as harmonizing legislation related to hotels and leisure facilities, jointly working on tourism statistics and exhibitions, and cooperating on permits for tourism installations as well as the development of tourist sites. Additionally, the two countries will exchange information, expertise, publications, and films, and organize joint research projects to share best practices in tourism development. These initiatives are designed to facilitate the creation of new tourism products and experiences, streamline regulatory processes, and promote joint marketing and research.
