Low-cost airline flynas celebrated the launch of direct flights between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi on April 10. This expansion into the UAE market aligns with flynas’ growth and expansion plan, launched under the title “We Connect the World to the Kingdom.” This initiative supports the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy, which aims to enable national air carriers to connect Saudi Arabia with 250 international destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and host 150 million tourists annually by 2030. It also aligns with the goals of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques, according to a statement.

Inaugural ceremony at King Khalid International Airport

An inaugural ceremony was held at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh on Thursday, April 10. The event was attended by representatives from flynas and Riyadh Airports Company, which manages and operates KKIA. The ceremony celebrated flynas’ maiden direct flight between the Saudi capital and the Emirati capital, further solidifying flynas’ position as the largest air carrier connecting the two brotherly countries with more than 20 daily flights.

Flight schedule and guest experience

Starting April 10, three weekly flights will further operate between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Shaikh Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Traveling guests on the inaugural flight were welcomed with giveaways, enhancing their travel experience.

Additionally, the leading LCC is now the only Saudi carrier serving the four major airports in the UAE with direct flights operated from flynas’ main bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah. This strategic move reflects flynas’ commitment to expanding its footprint in the region.

Extensive route network and Vision 2030 goals

flynas operates 139 routes to over 70 domestic and international destinations across 30 countries, with more than 1,500 weekly flights. Moreover, since its launch in 2007, flynas has flown more than 80 million passengers, aiming to reach 165 domestic and international destinations within its growth and expansion plan, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
