The Saudi Energy Ministry and NEOM have partnered to promote the implementation of advanced technologies in Saudi Arabia’s energy sector.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to enhance cooperation and devise a strategy for the sector’s modern development.
The agreement includes monitoring progress and identifying areas for improvement through periodic reviews.
Both parties will also offer technical and organizational solutions for the advancement of renewable energy technologies, hydrogen, and sustainability.

Additionally, the deal aims to foster innovation and explore suitable mechanisms within the sector. It seeks to integrate the two entities and other energy system organizations, such as the Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority, the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission, and King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy.
Last October, NEOM’s water and electricity subsidiary ENOWA announced its commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of the energy-intensive desalination process.
ENOWA’s CEO, Peter Terium, highlighted the importance of utilizing renewable energy in this industry to decrease harmful emissions regionally and globally during an interview with local media on the sidelines of the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week forum in Riyadh.
