In a significant collaboration, NEOM has revealed its commitment to invest $100 million in Pony.ai, forming a joint venture agreement focused on autonomous technology solutions within the Saudi Arabian region.
Through this partnership, NEOM and Pony.ai will work together to develop, manufacture, and provide autonomous driving services, advanced vehicles, and intelligent vehicle infrastructure. The primary focus will be on implementing these solutions in NEOM itself and in key markets across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
NEOM, as a forward-thinking city and development project in Saudi Arabia, recognizes the potential of Pony.ai and aims to leverage this investment to advance the manufacturing and deployment of autonomous vehicles and smart infrastructure within NEOM and other strategic markets in the MENA region.

As part of the joint venture, there will be a local autonomous vehicle manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facility established.
Optimal environment
The NEOM lab facility, powered entirely by renewable energy sources, is designed to create an optimal environment for refining and implementing state-of-the-art autonomous mobility solutions across land, sea, and air. This initiative builds upon NEOM’s previous investments in electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) and electric seaglider technologies.
