A comprehensive package of community initiatives valued at AED500 million ($136.1 million) has been launched, aimed at enhancing the quality of life and promoting sustainable development throughout the UAE.
This initiative was inaugurated during the UAE Government’s Annual Meetings, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE deputy prime minister and minister of the Interior, and His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs at the Presidential Court.

The launch event was attended by notable figures, including H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development; Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi, UAE minister of State for Youth Affairs; Sana Suhail, director general of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority; Dr. Tareq Al Ameri, director general of the Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs; Ahmed Taleb Al Shamsi, chief executive officer of Emirates Foundation; Mohammed Khalifa Al Kaabi, secretary-general of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development; and Fahad Al Ameri, secretary of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Focus areas of initiative
This initiative package includes high-impact projects focused on the well-being of senior citizens, women, and children, all to be executed through community councils that provide comprehensive social services across the UAE.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed emphasized that investing in the people is central to the comprehensive sustainable development strategy and is crucial for strengthening the community’s role as a cornerstone of the UAE’s progress. He further remarked that these community initiatives reflect the leadership’s vision for sustainable development and social well-being, underscoring the commitment to ensuring a high quality of life for everyone. Additionally, he stated that this initiative marks another significant step forward in achieving national objectives.

Concluding his remarks, His Highness Sheikh Mansour pointed out that these support initiatives provide a comprehensive framework for long-term impact, building a strong foundation through human capital development. He also noted that this strategic step will drive progress and establish a solid base for a sustainable and prosperous future.

Moreover, His Highness Sheikh Theyab highlighted that this extensive package is part of ongoing strategies to realize the UAE’s ambitious development vision by extending projects nationwide and benefiting all segments of society. H emphasized that these efforts contribute to stability, enhance quality of life, and inspire further contributions to the UAE’s comprehensive development journey.
He also stated that the UAE leadership is committed to a sustainable development model that actively promotes community participation and human development through public-private partnerships to maximize societal benefit.
Initiatives launched at the Annual Meetings
During a plenary session at the UAE Government’s Annual Meetings, held in Abu Dhabi from November 4 to 6, 2024, His Highness Sheikh Theyab officially launched the comprehensive initiatives package. This includes ten traditional-style community centers providing social services and youth programs; the development of ten rural community spaces dedicated to senior citizens; a specialized academy for creating engaging Arabic children’s content; the formation of a UAE Youth Humanitarian Council and associated training programs; and initiatives aimed at engaging and training over 10,000 aspiring athletes in rural areas, including the development of sports facilities and teams.
