Wizz Air, the ultra-low-cost airline, introduced its inaugural route for the new Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft, marking the beginning of a new chapter in budget-friendly long-haul travel. This state-of-the-art aircraft empowers Wizz Air to provide exceptional fares, broadening access to intercontinental journeys while fostering connections between diverse cultures and economies. The airline noted in a statement that tickets are now available for purchase on wizzair.com and through Wizz Air’s official app, both offered in Arabic, starting at just AED429.

Beginning June 2, 2025, Wizz Air will launch daily direct flights between Milan and Abu Dhabi. This route is the first of several that will take advantage of the Airbus A321XLR’s enhanced range and efficiency, transforming intercontinental travel and making it more accessible than ever. With prices starting at only AED429, Wizz Air remains committed to its mission of making air travel affordable for everyone.

Enhanced connectivity

Tamara Vallois, head of Commercial at Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, commented on the momentum gained from the recent launch of new routes from Abu Dhabi to Chisinau and Cluj. She noted the announcement of the first destination for the Airbus A321XLR, highlighting it as the most cost-efficient aircraft in its class. Vallois indicated that the enhanced range capabilities of the A321XLR would facilitate connections from Abu Dhabi to new destinations within their expanding network. Additionally, she emphasized that this decision to operate the Airbus A321XLR at Zayed International Airport underscores Wizz Air’s commitment to bridging cultures and continents. She further expressed enthusiasm about offering unbeatable fares for travelers on the newly announced route to Milan, while also providing a sustainable flying option. Vallois conveyed anticipation for welcoming passengers aboard the A321XLR for their upcoming vacations.

Moreover, Nathalie Jongma, vice president of Aviation Development at Abu Dhabi Airports, expressed her support for Wizz Air’s announcement regarding the expansion of its network to Zayed International Airport. She further noted that the introduction of the Airbus A321XLR on this route is significant, as it enables longer direct flights on narrow-body aircraft. Jongma highlighted that this development reflects a commitment to offering travelers a wide variety of destinations and a seamless travel experience.
