SGI Day, a yearly event focused on climate action awareness, seeks to mobilize and inspire stakeholders to make greater contributions toward a more eco-friendly future.
Accelerating efforts and sustainability programs
Moreover, the initiative has played a significant role in expediting environmental protection efforts, facilitating the transition of the energy sector, and implementing sustainability programs across various domains. It further integrates environmental preservation, energy transition, and sustainability initiatives within the Kingdom, aiming to enhance the quality of life by accomplishing three key objectives: reducing carbon emissions by 2030, planting 10 billion trees throughout Saudi Arabia, and safeguarding 30 percent of the country’s land and sea by 2030, as outlined on the SGI’s official website.
Significant investments: SAR705 billion for a sustainable future
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), since the launch of the SGI, 80 associated initiatives have been undertaken, accompanied by investments surpassing SAR 705 billion. Additionally, these initiatives explore novel opportunities in diverse green economy sectors, expedite the transition to a greener future, and solidify Saudi Arabia’s leadership in implementing the circular carbon economy model.
