In a recent interview with Khalid Al-Osaimi, Vice President of Wholesale Marketing, Mobily, Saudi Arabia, Economy Middle East discussed Mobily’s participation in Capacity Middle East 2023 in Dubai, as well as the company’s digital hub and its objectives.
Tell us more about Mobily’s participation in Capacity Middle East 2023.
We participated in Capacity Middle East as a diamond sponsor and an exhibitor to showcase the remarkable progress we have made as a company in recent years, contributing to digital transformation of the region, and networking with industry peers and customers.
During the conference, we took part in strategic discussions and talks about network upgrades and modernization, digital ecosystem development, IXPs role in global content localization and interconnectivity services.
What were you showcasing?
As a digital enabler and one of the largest and fastest wholesale and carrier providers in the region. We showcased our national, regional and global footprint, recent network expansions, investments and partnerships with national and international partners; critical for digital economy growth and acceleration as well as business continuity in the region.
Tell us more about Mobily’s digital hub and its objectives.
Mobily’s Digital Hub initiative is an integrated digital infrastructure ecosystem of latest submarine cables, networks, datacenters, and International Internet Exchange (JED1 IX) established in partnership with global top tier service provider (Equinix).
Emphasizing the importance of neutrality in our digital hub services offering, with best in class capabilities in conjunction with Equinix establishment of International neutral Internet exchange in Mobily’s JED1 data center in Jeddah.
The Exchange is an enabler for localization of global content and interconnectivity for Internet traffic between KSA, Europe, Asia and Africa and hence accelerating digital economy growth and the overall Internet and Content experience in the Kingdom and Region, reduce latency/access times to such information.
It also provides opportunities for global and regional internet service providers, operators, OTTs, content and cloud providers, and enterprises to interconnect and explore innovation services through the Digital Hub.
